2016 was a fine year for film. As the Academy Awards approach, here are my picks for who’s taking home the golden guy – who will win (vs. who should win and who’s missing). We’re off!
Inauguration 2017: To quote Lin-Manuel Miranda’s now famous lyrics from Hamilton, “History Has Its Eyes on You.†For some of us, those words could not be more true.
Best films of 2016: This year proved to be another good year for film. Originality flourished, indies rebounded with great filmmaking, and documentary storytelling continued to be strong.
The 88th Academy Awards are history for more than one reason. There were highs and lows, upsets and surprises. The point about the need for more opportunity among women and people of color was made. Now where will the film industry go from here?
