A stunning Chihuly Night @NYBG
Just as with Dale Chihuly’s artistry at The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) in the daytime, Chihuly Nights brings the same joy with the increased drama of shadow play and the vibrancy of color against the darkness.
At night, deep shadows bring another dimension to both his flatter and curvaceous forms. In the conservatory, the stalk-like forms blend further into the garden design, popping out by color. The huge, organic bowls glow as they sit among the greenery under the night sky.
The neon, linear tangle outside the conservatory that is difficult to appreciate in the daylight pulses brilliantly and dances in the night.
Perhaps the most striking image is the installation placed further into the main intersection on the garden trails. The red spears that are defined clearly by sunlight take on a more fiery and softer glow at night bursting up from the darkened pool.
The NYBG is magical at night, and the illuminated Chihulys are truly stunning. Get there before the show leaves on sunday, 29 october 2017.
