For the balls-y + the curious

Wellcome Collection, incurably curious, promotion and marketing, crowdfunding promotion, Henry Wellcome, museums,

As an aside from my Shakespeare posts this month, I found this very curious project from the Wellcome Collection, a place in London for the incurably curious that explores the connections between medicine, life and art in the past, present and future. Right up my alley.

Many years ago, I was fortunate to see an exhibit of Henry Wellcome’s medical collection at the British Museum called Medicine Man, The Forgotten Museum of Henry Wellcome. It was great – so unique and informative (and with a film short by my favs, the Brothers Quay), and the catalog is superb. I’ve been fascinated by the man ever since.

How will you live the next chapter of your life? Share your comparative adjective with London’s Wellcome Collection and see what happens next. Be ballsier.

Since 2013, a major development project – Bigger, Bolder, Braver – has been underway at the Wellcome Collection “to open up the building, offering a more immersive experience for visitors who want to delve deeper into the themes we explore.”

Got balls?

To celebrate the expansion of its new spaces and new staircase, the Wellcome Collection created a social campaign called Ballsier and asks: What ‘‑er’ are you? How will you live the next chapter of your life?

That’s your cue. Submit your descriptive ‘-er’ word via social media [Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram] using the hashtag #Ballsier, or go to the web page and submit a word there.

A wave of brightly color balls will be released down the new staircase on 7 may 2015 with the submissions written on them.

Marvelous and brilliant. Wish I could be there to see it.
