The inspiring, transformative powers of six

In the early days of the curious g, I wrote about Smith Magazine’s Six-Word series in Pick 6. I had just discovered the series and had contributed to the magazine for the first time. Since then I’ve been fascinated by the creative and moving strings of six that people have written to sum up their lives, loves, likes and all else.

Smith Magazine co-founder Larry Smith was inspired by Ernest Hemingway who bragged that he could write a great story in six words or less. Hemingway’s story:

With the brevity needed in many social networking platforms, Smith’s concept could not have been more timely.

Larry Smith appeared at PopTech to talk about the power of storytelling. But storytelling couldn’t exist without the curiousness of you and me – as an audience of (enthralled) listeners, and at times, (enthusiastic) participents.
