Humps, bumps and a few bruises too

How did I not know this? And so close to home.

If you’ve been following this blog, you know how much I love camels (contrary to the popular opinion). In books, in travel on videos, and even in dairies.

And the newest one: camels races, right here in the US of A.

Yup! An old mining town, 40 miles south of Reno, Virginia City, Nevada, has hosted the Virginia City International Camel Race for 50 years. As one of the many annual events that happen in this town, it’s never boring.

“…camels are erratic. They often stop with no warning or change course. They’re instinctively curious, too, halting to examine…spectators…”

Camels get a bad wrap. I can name 20 people who fit that description. I think Virgina City’s camel race is a must-do.
