The 2000s: “The Decade From Hell.” Really?
Time Magazine has called this soon-to-be-over decade “The Decade from Hell.” It seems unlikely that anyone who lived through it would ask why.
The early part of this decade began with explosive attacks on New York City and Washington D.C. and the latter part ends with an imploding economy. Rounding out events: an electoral-appointed president (remember the hanging chads?), a huge tsunami, two unending wars, a vicious hurricane, a massive ponzi scheme and near-complete economic collapse – 2000-2009, not looking so good.
As the first decade of the 21st century goes into the books, how would you define it? Did anything positive happen here?

My description? Acceleratingly scary, with few positives
Two positives? The Phillies winning the World Series in 2008 and making it to the 2009 WS to play the Yankees. (Even though the Phils didn’t win, my congrats to the Yankees).

Interesting that you use the word “accerelatingly” because scientists at CERN and around the world just celebrated the news that the first protons collided. A great decade-ending triumph.
And to the Phillies 2008 victory and Yankees bookending the decade with World Series wins.
The decade through the eyes of a 21 y/o, who feels short-changed.
And then there’s the collected moments.
