Day of the African Child: A day to remember, a way to help
The Day of the African Child, a day commemorating the bravery of thousands of school children in Soweto, South Africa, has been celebrated annually since 1991. This year, you can help make it a day of hope.
Young Heroes Foundation supports AIDS orphans in Swaziland, the nation with the world’s highest rate of HIV. Young Heroes is asking people all across America to hold house parties to raise funds for the orphans on or around June 16th, to make the Day of the African Child a day of action on their behalf. From Massachusetts to Washington, people have already responded to the call.
Young Heroes’ goal: 100 parties that raise $500 each. By raising $50,000, Young Heroes can feed over 300 orphans for an entire year.
